This drink is known as fruitwater or ‘infused water’, which means that your herbs and fruits are infused into your water to give a nice taste to your water. Infused water is actually very easy to make. You take water and add flavours of your choice. Put it in the refrigerator and let it rest. The water takes over the taste and you get a healthy and refreshing drink. Do it in a jar and it will look very nice too. Great to put on the table.

How to make it:

Put cooled water in a bottle with a large opening.

Wash your fruit and fresh herbs well, cut into large pieces and add to your water.

Fruit with a lot of juice (like lemon and lime) can also be squeezed and the juice added to your water.

Have your water infused for a long time in the fridge (up to 2 hours) for a nice taste.

My favourite combination would be orange juice and chai. Simply cut up one orange in parts. Add them to 1 l cold water together with 5 cardamompods, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 cloves and 3 slices of fresh ginger.

Other great combinations:

  • Blueberries, lemon and fresh mint
  • Lemon, orange, lime and fresh basil
  • Raspberries, green apple, rosemary
  • Pineapple, cucumber, mint, lemon
  • Kiwi and blackberries
  • Vanilla stew, basil, strawberries
  • Red apple, cinnamon sticks

Remember that almost everything can be used. Experiment to your heart and let it lead you to your favorite tastes. The infused water can be stored in the fridge for two days. If it lasts that long. 😉
